My Soteriology

The following is actually a song, but the lyrics stand on their own right as poetry. I wrote a previous poem as a synthetic response to a class I took in Trinitarianism; this I wrote as a response to Soteriology (hence the title, of course).

Soteriology

Jesus Christ, the Son of God
Have mercy on my soul
A wretched sinner, this I am
But You have made me whole
And I'm thankful...

Jesus Christ, the Son of God
Now one with God and man
Born to die, that we might live
From before all time began
And I'm thankful...

Jesus Christ, the Son of God
Was dying on the tree
Reconciling us to God
For all eternity
And I'm thankful...

Jesus Christ, the Son of God
Atoning for our sin
In our place, God's judgment paid
Now we have peace with Him
And I'm thankful...

Jesus Christ, the Son of God
Was buried in the tomb
All my sin, my fleshly self
Was buried there with Him
And I'm thankful...

Jesus Christ, the Son of God
Is risen up again
Death defeated, coming soon
In the flesh again
And I'm thankful...

Jesus Christ, the Son of God
Have mercy on my soul
A wretched sinner, this I am
But You have made me whole
And I'm thankful...
